Check your devices are online and healthy
Once a week, and on every site visit, take two minutes to confirm that every device is online, charged and connected. Most problems announce themselves here first, long before a gap appears in a report.
The quick look
Open the Dashboard in SiteHive Enviro and choose the All Aspects view. The map shows the status of every Monitoring Point, so a device that is not reporting stands out at a glance. The side panel lists Monitoring Points and devices with status symbols; click one to see more.
Check power and signal
Select the Monitoring Point in the side panel and click Manage.
Switch to the Device view and select the device.
Open the Power tab for the battery level and the Signal tab for connectivity.
Or start from the Devices tab: find the device, click the Manage icon, and read the same two tabs.
💡 Rule of thumb: if your phone has signal where the device sits, the device should be fine. If the battery is healthy but the device is offline, weak signal is the likely cause.
What healthy looks like
Battery above 25% and recovering each day on solar. A level that falls a little every day is the early warning of a shaded or dirty panel.
Signal steady, with data arriving every reporting period.
Status shown as online on the map, with the latest values at the point.
Let the alerts watch for you
Turn on the two device alerts in Settings > Rules & Notifications > Notifications:
Offline device alert: sent at 8 am if a device went offline and did not recover.
Low battery alert: sent at 8 am if a battery dropped below 25%.
How to set them up is in Set up rules and notifications.
When to act
Offline overnight: follow If a device goes offline. A power cycle on site fixes most cases.
Battery trending down: check the panel faces north, is unshaded and clean; see Keep devices powered through winter.
On site: read the light in the SiteHive logo. Green is online and recording; blue is recording without a connection; no light is no power.
